3 Things To Do As a Local In Tampa

From the most beautiful beaches to world-class theme parks, Tampa is one of the best places to live with your family.

1) Winter Village at Curtis Hixon Park

Celebrate the holiday season in Downtown Tampa at the Winter Village at Curtis Hixon Park. Located along the Tampa Riverwalk, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is transformed with the sights, sounds and activities of the holidays for children and adults of all ages including Ice skating, waterfront dining, holiday shops, and holiday movies. The Winter Village is open from November 17th to January 5th.

2) Big Cat Rescue

This sanctuary is home to more than 140 big cats, including lions, tigers, ocelots, etc. While you’re not allowed to pet the cats, (for very obvious reasons) you can still get a glimpse of how these animals behave in their natural habitat. These animals were rescued from zoos, circuses, and from people that used to keep them as pets. Take your family this weekend and visit the sanctuary to learn more about their wildlife and ecosystems.

3) Witness a live Flamenco show and enjoy a 1905 Salad at the Columbia Restaurant

The Flamenco, consisting of rhythmic dance steps performed on a hard wood floor, originated with the Spanish Gypsies and has evolved through the years to the more structured form familiar today. The classical Spanish dances consist of ballet moves in colorful Spanish costumes accompanied by the distinctive sound of castanets.

Rated “One Of America’s Top 10 Best Salads” by USA Today, this flavorful salad was the Columbia’s answer to the ubiquitous salad bar. Created by waiter Tony Noriega in the 1940s, it was adapted by the Columbia. The Columbia kitchen designed a new dressing that features Worcestershire sauce, lemon, and Parmesan cheese.
